About the role

As the Management Accountant you will be responsible for analysing and reporting on financial data within the organisation ensuring that all departments receive timely and accurate information. 
Reporting to the Financial Controller you will ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all information within the financial reporting aspects of the company.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that all Health and Safety procedures are always followed and encouraging colleagues to do the same
  • Active reporting of Health and Safety near misses and encouraging colleagues to do the same
  • Produce timely and reliable management information reports on a weekly/monthly basis.
  • Produce monthly management accounts.
  • Develop and control a centralised accounting system to ensure that accounts are effectively managed.
  • Investigate variances against expectations and historic statistics and provide analysis of differences.
  • Perform month end for Accounts Payable, VAT, Fixed Assets and general ledger in the finance system.
  • Prepare the quarterly VAT return
  • Oversee all accounting policies and procedures in conjunction with the Director of Finance
  • Ensure the Company meets its financial and legal responsibilities within the accounting function
  • Control and reconcile bank accounts
  • Prepare and submit monthly PAYE returns and annual P35 returns
  • Prepare and submit P11D’s on an annual basis
  • Supervise and manage the Accounts team, including work allocation, support and development of colleagues, and daily monitoring of key operating controls
  • Produce the monthly staff payroll
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of processing monthly staff payroll
  • Process all holiday requests, and keep accurate records of all holidays taken by all monthly paid employees
  • Keep accurate timekeeping and absence records, and provide this information to the HR Officer on a monthly basis
  • Administration of company contractual and auto enrolment pension schemes
  • Process the weekly expenses payments
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or qualified by relevant experience
  • Experience of working in a similar fast paced roler – preferably in a Retail or FMCG environment
  • Strong analytical mind set and variance analysis skills
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Demonstrable experience of working with multiple stakeholders at all levels
  • A naturally collaborative style, sharing information and knowledge to help others achieve
  • A strong customer service approach
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
Location-  Company Shop, Head Office, Tankersley, Barnsley.

Hours – 40 hours per week.
