Role Purpose
The role is responsible for achieving overall growth in the specified category with each identified account to meet product mix specified by the business.
 
The role will be responsible for running a specified category and will work closely with the Senior Category Development Manager.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • To provide minimum     stock levels in each category as specified by the business
  • To work closely with our clients to ensure the supply of stock within agreed service levels at appropriate prices
  • To achieve minimum overall margin of 58.9% to meet the business plan
  • Responsible for new Community Shop donations shared with the wider business
  •  To develop, review and present individual client account plans with the Head of category and Senior Category Development Managers (top 25 minimum)
  • To attend a minimum of 12 external client visits per year with recorded outcomes
  • To assist the Senior Category Development Managers with a minimum of 10 internal visits     per year
  • To obtain at least 5 relevant contacts in each of your top 25 accounts
  • To contact identified accounts in line with account plans with regular marketing     material
  • To develop in depth knowledge of key decision making drivers for the top 25 accounts
  • Build and Maintain productive working relationships with colleagues in Operations, Transport and Retail to deliver maximum value for the business and the best service     for the client 
  • To work with the Senior Category Development Manager and client management to grow existing retail relationships
  • To work closely with the Senior Category Development Manager and the Head of Category Development and take on additional duties in their absence as required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience in a buying or supply chain position
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities for our clients and our business
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment with the ability to achieve targets
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Articulate and persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to build rapport and listen effectively
  • A good understanding of stock control
  • Effective time management, thorough prioritisation and organisational skills
