About the role

The role of Store Manager is responsible for all aspects of the store and leading a team to ensure the highest standards are maintained. Working closely with the wider store management team to lead and manage colleagues across the store you will strive to deliver a fantastic service to our members; putting customers at the heart of everything that we do.

You will report to the Regional Retail Manager/Head of Retail and be accountable for store sales and standards which will lead to the delivery of outstanding operational / financial performance.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Ensuring that all Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures are always followed and encouraging colleagues to do the same
Ensuring all environmental ‘best practices’ are implemented and adhered too at all times
Active reporting of Health and Safety near misses and encouraging colleagues to do the same.
  • Drive sales through excellent merchandising and product availability; driving performance of other colleagues in this area through coaching
  • Achieve KPI’s and targets as agreed
  • Coach all colleagues to provide excellent customer service; lead by example
  • Assist in the delivery of budgets and improving financial performance
  • Ensure all work is processed daily
  • Ensure all log books and completed and signed off
  • Work with the management team to encourage innovative ideas to improve store performance
  • Accountable for agreed store standards; identifying and driving improvements where necessary
  • Improving the management capability of the team
  • Responsible for ensuring maximum availability is achieved at all times
  • Daily monitoring of stock at risk
  • Undertake quality reviews
  • Managing performance through the setting of stretching objectives, and monitoring and reviewing performance by holding regular 1:1s
  • Lead, coach and guide the supervisory team with a view to continuous performance improvement
  • Support the team to deal effectively with customer complaints and queries
  • Accountable for ensuring high hygiene standards and maintained through the store and warehouse areas including ensuring all areas are clutter free
  • Responsibility for all HR activities/issues within the store
  • Overseeing pricing, merchandising and legal compliance with Food Safety controls
  • Maximising and protecting profitability and motivating store colleagues to deliver the same
  • Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental controls at all times
  • Ensure Brand Integrity is maintained
  • Regular review of colleague hours ensuring the right hours are in place to effectively run the store
  • Working collaboratively with Regional Managers to influence promotional activity
  • Effectively communicate with Head Office
  • Take a hands-on role to lead the store where necessary and whilst on duty
  • Ensuring that all relevant Health and Safety procedures are always followed and encouraging colleagues to do the same
  • Active reporting of Health and Safety near misses and encouraging colleagues to do the same
  • Ensure training for all colleagues is carried out and recorded accurately
  • Undertake regular stock takes and audits
  • Be a gatekeeper for the store
  • Clearing the exceptions on the Time and Attendance system within the agree time frames
  • Commercial awareness and understand the impact of decision on performance
  • Be a natural leader with drive and enthusiasm to deliver results
  • Produce pro-active plans that help support business and team objectives
  • Proven leadership experience and the ability to motivate and coach others
  • Be hands on, with the ability to gain credibility and trust
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workloads, according to the overall objectives and strategy for the operation
  • Food Safety - Level 2 required, Level 3 is desirable
  • The capability to work under pressure and be able to multi task across different priorities
  • Experience in colleague management, such as managing absence and conduct issues
  • Experience in colleague development, through using performance review processes and people development plans
  • Be fully flexible
